About Us

The Department of History was established in June 1974. The Subject ‘History’ was started as an optional subject since 1964. The Department has started Post Graduate course in 2002. The Department of History celebrated Silver Jubilee in 2000. The faculty of the department is well qualified & experienced. They actively engaged in research & have got enough literature published to their credit. Department has enough learning resources & infrastructure. Department has an individual library with 84 books. Department has a track record of excellent results. And always strives for the holistic development of the students. Hence, many students have become Principal, Teachers, Researchers, Writer, Orator, Advocate and Officers. They are all honestly serving in different areas of society.

Department of History has tradition of scholarly teachers. Prof. A.L. Patil, Dr. S.S. Patil, Dr. S.B. Kadam and Dr. M.J. Pawar was former Head of the department. Currently Mr. U.G. Jambhore is working as Head of the department.

Various major activities have been conducted by the department in which Fort Conservation, Exhibition, Study Tour, Wallpaper Publication, Tree Plantation, Guest lecture, Krantidin, Birth anniversary of Nation Builders etc. can be mainly included. They are conducted every year.

Department organised State level conference ‘Akhil Maharashtra Itihas Parishad’ in November 2011, National conference in March 2016 and National Webinar in August 2020. It successfully implemented Modi Script Course in 2017, Fort Conservation course in 2019 and COC Tourism since 2005. Students of the department have achieved great success in Art, Sport and Academics. 07 SUK Merit scholarships are bagged by the student of the department, 02 Central Sector Scholarship are received and 03 student passed SET, 01 student received University Rank and 01 student received Gold Medal and Bronze Medal in Sport competition.
