Department of Biochemistry

The department of Biochemistry was established in the year - 2017 Biochemistry is a sparkling branch of life sciences devoted to enlighten the various molecular mechanisms by which living organisms carry out their many functions. The Department of Biochemistry is committed to investigate the complex relationship and mechanisms that control biological processes. The Department started offering undergraduate degree course in B.Sc. Biochemistry in the year 2017.

Innovative teaching is needed to improve students' thinking skills, reasoning skills and independent and team work. Classrooms and teaching time available to students are compared to discussion forums rather than one dimensional teaching. The facilities of the departmental library and computer facilities encourage students to improve their existing scientific knowledge. Students can demonstrate their skills in the real world by completing assignmetsthathighligt the value of 3D modeling and innovative projects. Our department provides a rich environment for faculty and student growth and we welcome inquiries.

Prof. M.G.Chikalkar serving as co-ordinator of department since from establishment, Mr. N.F Shaikh and Mr.S.B. Parit are two working faculties of the department.

Mission

To impart theoretical and practical training in advanced areas of biochemical sciences and contribute new knowledge through which encourage creativity, insight development and a passion for science.

Objective

  • To let students understand the physical and chemical properties of molecules, and their status of occurrence in biological system.
  • To familiarize the students with major bimoleules which are important for the structural organization and functions of the cells
  • To empowers scientific and medical discovery in fields such as pharmaceuticals, forensics and nutrition.

Context

Educational trips and excursions are designed to enhance classroom learning. They provide students with the opportunity to: See, touch and experience what they have learned in the classroom, Interact with new people and witness regional practices, Broaden their understanding of the world, improve their artistic sense and explore surroundings.

Practices

Different industry visits and excursions are planned and executed at department. Industrial visits are known for technical methods of teaching. It helps students to know things practically through interviews, interaction, working methods and employment practices. These visits give students awareness about new technologies and give combined knowledge about both theory and practical.

Outcome
1. Interactive Learning:

During an excursion, students get a chance to interact with what they are learning or have learned. Students can participate in the theories and concepts practically and the experience is not just limited to reading about the subject. Educational tours provide valuable educational opportunities without a regular classroom, textbooks, and other tools. When they get a chance to see, touch and experience things that they have learned about in books, students return to the classroom with greater enthusiasm, motivation, and a deeper connection with the subject. On an educational tour, students get to experience different methods and approaches to teaching and gain a new perspective of seeing the subject.

2. Social Interaction:

An educational tour places the students in different socio-cultural environments where they encounter new people and witness regional practices usually. These interactions teach them to accept diversity. Thus, enhancing their communication skills, sense of teamwork, and building a community among students.
