HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT:

The Subject History was started as an optional subject in the Institute since 1964. The Separate Department was established in June 1974. First batch of B. A. passed out in 1975. The Department has started Post Graduate course (M.A. History) in July 2002. The Department of History celebrated Silver Jubilee in 2000. Till date Department of History has sent out many batches among whom many students have become Principal, Teachers, Researchers, Advocates, Professional Orators, Officers and so on. And they are all honestly serving in different areas of society.

INFRA STRUCTURE & FACILITIES:

  • The Department have got separate cabin for staff and faculty.
  • It is well equipped with computer, LCD, Furniture etc.
  • To tune with the modern teaching aids.
  • Department is having 35 C.Ds. & D.V.Ds. and also 05 Historical Remnants.

DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY:

  • The Department has an individual library with 104 books including Reference and Textbooks. As well as 400 e-books.
  • The Department uses Central library of the College.

ACHIVEMENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT:

  • Organized State level conference named as ‘Akhil Maharashtra Itihas Parishad’ on 12 & 13 November 2011. Total 400 student’s, researchers and lecturers took benefit of the conference. Published a commemorative journal & research volume. (Sanshodhan
    Patrika).
  • Held Exhibition of the Photographs of Historical Forts, Rare Coins and Historical Documents on 12th & 13th November, 2011.
  • Held Exhibition of the Poster of “Neglected Revolutionaries & Freedom Fighter” on 09 August, 2014.
  • Organized Fort Conservation Campaign (Pavangad) on 05 March, 2015.
  • One day National Conference on “‘Contribution of Social Reform Movement in Maharashtra from Literature and History Writing’ jointly organized by Department of History and Marathi on 09th March, 2016.
  • The Department of History successfully implemented the ‘Modi Lipi (Script)’ Course under the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, from 11/09/2017 to 11/10/2017.

MoU :

An MoU with Department of History, Chandrabai-Shantappa Shendure College, Hupari was signed on 10 September, 2018 for a period of five years. Under the MoU, a Teacher and seven Students from our department actively participated and exchanged knowledge in the workshop on ‘Women’s Movement in Maharashtra’ organized by Chandrabai-Shantappa Shendure College, Hupari dated on 14 September, 2018.
